Treasure Hunt

A total of 25 checkpoints are spread over the Lower Hillside, providing interesting tasks related to nature, carrying different scores. Participants accumulate points and win prizes by completing tasks.

Nature Walk and Treasure Hunt Workshops

Introduction of seasonal vegetable and herbs
(guided tour in Eco garden)

Date: December 7 and 8, 2024

On this slow walk through the Eco garden, our guide assists participants to identify and recognise different seasonal vegetables and herbs, using all five senses. Participants also learn how the growing of crops and ecological conservation can coexist sustainably and in harmony.

Time:
Section A: 11:00 - 11:30
Section B: 14:00 - 14:30 

(30 minutes each session)

Quota: 15 per session
Location : Eco garden

Make your own pot workshop
Date: December 7 and 8, 2024

Small spaces can also be used to grow food! Through the workshop, participants can understand the value of urban farming and prepare their own pot. Planting tips and experience will also be shared.

Section B: 15:00 - 15:30 
(30 minutes each session)

Bat Clip DIY Workshop
Date: December 7 and 8, 2024

Create a unique ‘bat’ using simple materials while learning about the correct ecological information regarding bats and their great contributions to humanity. After completing your creation, feel free to visit Life on the Wing at KFBG to explore the local native brown fruit bat!

Time slots: 11:00 - 16:30 
Duration: Approximately 15 minutes
Donation: HK$10 each

Pastel Art Workshop
Date: December 7 and 8, 2024

Through the soft colours and delicate strokes of harmonious pastels, release your inner emotions and thoughts. Capture the enchanting postures of plants and animals while immersing yourself in the embrace of nature at KFBG.

Duration: Approximately 40 minutes
Donation: HK$50 per piece

Plant Encounter
Date: December 7 and 8, 2024

Plant Encounters sessions will run twice daily on 7th and 8th December during the Nature Walk & Treasure Hunt 2024, allowing visitors to explore the ecology and horticulture of KFBG’s gardens in the company of a botanist.

Section A: 13:30 - 14:15
Section B: 15:30 - 16:15 
(45 minutes each session)


Quota: 15 per session
Location: Lower Farm
Donation: HK$50

Finding Hong Kong Wild Mammals
Date: December 7 and 8, 2024

“Donate to play” game – a board game with different challenges. Participants must identify Hong Kong wild mammal features, tracks and signs to complete the game. Prizes are offered to everyone who finishes the game, but those with a high score will receive a special prize, such as a customised wood ornament made with a handheld inkjet printer. Wildlife photos and footage are also displayed at the booth.

Discovery & Rescue Tables
Date: December 7 and 8, 2024

The Discovery Table features a diverse collection of animal specimens confiscated from illegal trade, including birds, reptiles, and mammals. By touching and learning the stories behind these specimens, visitors will have a greater sense of respect for nature and its remarkable inhabitants.

The Rescue Table display a wide range of items retrieved from our animal rescue cases, including glue traps, fishhooks swallowed by water birds, and more. By promoting awareness and understanding of animal conservation, we aim to empower visitors with knowledge and guidance on how to assist wild animals in distress.

Animal Encounters 
Date: December 7 and 8, 2024

During the event, we showcase and share the stories and unique characteristics of our animal ambassadors with participants. Our aim is to foster a connection between the public and nature, raise awareness about nature conservation, and cultivate a deeper appreciation for animals.

Time: 13:00 - 13:25 (Tegu Talk)
          14:00 - 14:25 (Python Talk)
          15:00 - 15:25 (Raptor Talk)

Quota: 15 per section

Donation: HK$100 (Special Session: You can take photo with the animals at the end of the activity. Photos will be available for pickup at the farm shop after the event.)

Animal Enrichment Workshop
Date: December 7 and 8, 2024

Animal enrichment aims to provide engaging experiences for captive animals, promoting their physical and mental well-being. Join us in creating DIY enrichment for our captive animals, they serve as meaningful Christmas gifts for our animal ambassadors!

 

Time: 11:00 - 16:30

Fee: You can contribute a donation to join the workshop.

Food Hub x Eco-friendly Coffee
Date: December 7 and 8, 2024

An opportunity to see how coffee is roasted and enjoy a good cup of coffee under the winter sun. Food Hub is KFBG’s new initiative to promote food literacy and our green coffee bean is sourced carefully to bridge consumers’ support directly to sustainable producers and indigenous communities.  Limited quantity of freshly roasted coffee is available for sale!

Donation: HK$80 per head

Apiary Tour
Date: December 7 and 8, 2024

“Buzz Buzz Buzz…”Let’s look closely at the little honeybees and learn about their behaviours, how they produce honey and their importance in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. Protecting honeybees is also one way to protect the nature.

Donation: HK$100 per head

Duration: 30 minutes
